Miccosukee Indian Adventure & Airboat Ride
The Miccosukee Indians have called Florida home for hundreds of years. During the Indian Wars of the 1850’s they escaped deportation and moved south to the Everglades. Present tribal members are descendants of some 50 people who eluded capture in the wars and now have a thriving, self-sufficient community in the middle of the Everglades.
Come step into an example of a real life camp of the Miccosukee Indians. The village features a museum, sewing, arts & crafts, cook chickee, alligator wrestling and a gift shop. After visiting the village we will take an exciting air boat ride into the Everglades. Your guide will take you to an old Indian Hunting Camp, as well. Everglades National Park is the largest subtropical wilderness in the U.S. and is one of the largest wetlands in the world. It is home to over 350 species of birds. The American crocodile, Florida panther and the West Indian manatee are some of the endangered species to call the park home and of course, it is home to the Florida alligator. You may see these or one of the other numerous animals that call this fascinating eco-system home.
